Our exam prep blends self-paced reading and reflection with live, instructor-led online discussion, so you arrive at your oral exam ready and confident.
Be honest with yourself about the reading. Your certification expects 6–10 hours of personal reflection before the live session, depending on level. It’s the part people underestimate, and it’s the part that decides how the exam goes — the session expands what you’ve already written, it doesn’t replace it.

Your first step is the free RBLP application, and your account links you straight to it. Here’s what it asks, so you know what’s coming:
Open the official RBLP application and choose the certification level that matches your experience.
When asked “Have you completed the exam prep training?” select “No.”
In “Request a specific Instructor,” enter Promote and Lead Solutions, LLC.

As an RBLP Trainer-certified instructor, he leads exam prep for every RBLP certification level, helping aspiring supervisors, managers, and senior leaders build and lead resilient teams. He earned his MBA from American Military University, has served in various management roles across multiple organizations, and has founded three companies spanning web development, mobile apps, and leadership certification.
Army and Air Force Credentialing Assistance (COOL/CA) can fully fund both your exam prep training and your certification exam. Hundreds of Active-Duty, Reserve, and Guard members have earned an RBLP certification since 2020.
Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard COOL work differently: they fund the exam, not the exam prep training. Prep is self-funded (or 0% APR financing) unless your unit covers it — we’ll walk you through it either way.
The RBLP application is free and takes under 10 minutes. When asked, request Promote and Lead Solutions, LLC as your exam prep instructor.
Create a learning goal in your branch portal (Army IgnitED / Air Force COOL), which requires two quotes: one for exam prep training and one for the certification exam. After you apply, RBLP provides both quotes for you.
COOL/CA funds your exam prep training about a week before your course date. You complete your instructor-led, online prep with us during your scheduled cohort.
Once your funding is approved, RBLP sends you a voucher code. Schedule your oral exam on RBLP's exam scheduling page: select your certification level, complete your admin details, choose a date and time, and upload your training certificate. Add the exam to your cart and pay with your voucher code, then pass your exam and earn your certification.
These are RBLP’s suggested bands for experience, not funding eligibility — what matters for the exam is the leadership you can speak to.
Not eligible, or funds unavailable? The exam is still reimbursable under the GI Bill®, and units can fund training with SF‑182. Your education center is the authority on your own eligibility.

Before your course date, work through each module and answer the reflection questions about your leader/follower experience. Jot down personal examples and stories you can speak to in the exam.
